In January 2010, Steve was appointed the inaugural Registrar, Australasian Register of Security Professionals. The organisation was established to set the ethical standards, competencies and criteria for the registration of security professionals in Australia and New Zealand.

In his role as Registrar Steve attends and chairs regular meetings for the board and plays an integral role in determining the corporate governance and direction of the organisation.
In 2011, Steve was appointed a member of a technical committee that has been developing, in conjunction with ASIS International, a Management System for Quality of Private Security Company Operations – Requirements with Guidance (PSC.1) Standard.
This Standard provides the principles and requirements for a quality assurance management system (QAMS) for private sector security organizations to abide by and demonstrate accountability to internationally recognized norms of civil and human rights while providing quality assurance in the provision of their products and services. It provides auditable criteria for quality assurance of Private Security Company (PSC) operations and services, consistent with pertinent legal and human rights obligations and good practices related to operations of private security service providers in conditions where governance and the rule of law has been undermined by conflict or disaster.
